Details: For the longest time, fashion has had one of the most strict systems built in. It has been a top-down system ever since the time of royalty, Whatever the king or queen was wearing, that was considered fashion. These days, especially with the come up of anti-fashion, that structure is changing a lot. Many upcoming designers as well as very established designers are embracing subcultures and gaining inspiration there. Gopnik fashion is often considered whatever the poor Russian youth is wearing. This subculture has made headlines due to fashion designer, Gosha Rubchinskiy. This editorial explores where Gopnik fashion comes from, the punk and youth culture in Soviet Russia, and how designers are gaining inspiration today.
