Project Name: AKIRA: Art of Destruction
Work: Book making and Graphic Design
Date: march 2019

Details: Katsuhiro Otomo has an incredible way of illustrating destruction and chaos in a beautiful way. Akira incapsulates that in a two hours long action packed anime film. The movie launching during the late 1980’s, Japan was experiencing a major boom economically and technologically. That has influenced many distopian artists and writers at the time. More than just the film, I wanted to look at the manga for references because that is where the reader can see Otomo’s eye for destruction. This book is a collage of different scene in his manga series to celebrate the art of destruction.
